• Does GMTEF provide transportation?
No, all parents/guardians are responsible for arranging their own form of transportation. GMTEF does not provide transportation, with the exception of approved program field trips.
• Is there a program on Teacher Planning Days and Holiday Breaks?
Yes, on Teacher Planning Days and Holiday Breaks there is a full-day camp, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Is this just a tennis program?
No. While tennis is very much a major part of the fitness aspect, the program also includes homework assistance/tutoring, literacy/academics, nutrition/sports nutrition, and life skills.
• What are the program hours?
The After-School Program operates Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Summer Camp Program operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Teacher planning days & school breaks from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• What happens on rainy days?
On rainy days, the full program is still in operation, with the exception of outdoor activities.
• What is the attendance requirement?
Participants must be in attendance a minimum of 85% of the scheduled program days. Whenever participants are absent, letters of explanation must be presented upon return. Only 5 unexcused absences are allowed. Once the limit has been reached, the participant will be removed from the program.
• What is the cost of the program?
The tangible financial cost of the program is free. However, there is a very important intangible requirement of ensuring that children attend regularly and participate actively with good behavior.
• Will there be field trips?
Yes, mostly during the Summer Camp Program. Parents/guardians will receive advanced notice of any scheduled field trips. There is no cost to attend these trips and free supervised transportation is also provided. It may be required to bring lunch to some of the field trips. Please note that any participants or parents/guardians who do not follow the program requirements will be ineligible to participate in field trips or any other special events.
